District 142 Southwest Airlines Shop Steward Conference

To the Membership of IAM L.L. 2319

I am writing to provide you with a conference report for the District 142 Southwest Shop Stewards at W-3.

To the members of Local 2319, I would like to express my gratitude for the opportunity to attend the District 142 Southwest Steward Conference 2026 at the W-3 Center. Southwest Airlines had 95 stewards attend this event, which was a resounding success.

Throughout the conference, we engaged in discussions about daily grievances and strategies for addressing concerns regarding contract violations. We also had the opportunity to question the leaders of the District about upcoming contract negotiations and emphasized the importance of implementing measures to protect our work from the potential impact of artificial intelligence. Visitors included GVP of Air Transportation Richie Johnsen and his Chief of Staff Edison Fraser, from our own Local General Chair brother Kenny Champagne as well as four other GC’s for Southwest Airlines.

District 141 Chairman’s Committee Conference

I would like to start out by thanking the membership of local 2319 for granting me the opportunity of attending the 2026 IAM 141 Chairman Committee Conference in Houston Texas from March 30th-April 2,206 Thank you again.

On Monday March 30th the first day was just registration and a very nice warm welcoming Monday night reception getting to meet all the attendants.

Tuesday started out with a very nice breakfast provided until 9am with the conference getting underway with a very warm welcome from PDGC Mike Klemm and his opening remarks which was followed by other dignitaries and ranking members of districts 141. After a short break the group was great with a video call from Texas Senate candidate James Talarico who spoke on the challenges that lay ahead in today’s world for the work force. After lunch break the groups of United and American Airlines all broke out into their respected groups for breakout sessions.

On Wednesday March 31, again the conference started at 9am with a welcome from President Klemm, and more officials from 141 followed by a rousing speech from IAM national legislative and political director Hasan Solomon. Also speaking on Wednesday was Untied States Representative from Texas, Christian Menefee. Which was followed up by more break out sessions by the airline groups. The night concluded with a very nice closing dinner provided by the district to the attendee’s.

Thursday’s closing day was short closing remarks by President Klemm who then released the group and it was off to the airport.
