History of IAM Local 2319

Originally the membership of this local was affiliated with IAM Local Lodge 570. With the help of then GLR William W. Winpisinger the realization of a IAM “airline” lodge became a reality and on December 1,1967, Tampa Airline Lodge, Local  2319, was chartered by the International Association of Machinists and  Aerospace Workers.

The original members were employees of Eastern Airlines, and National Airlines, both of which are now gone. The first Local 2319, president was Robert Kendall of Eastern Airlines. The original charter had 50 signatures.

Tampa Airline Lodge 2319 represents airline ground employees at AirTran Airways, Southwest Airlines, United Airlines, and US Airways. These members are further represented by IAM Districts 141, and 142. The Lodge encompasses employees at Tampa International Airport, Regional Southwest Airport, in Ft. Myers, and at Sarasota International Airport, in Florida.

Local Lodge 2319, is affiliated with the Florida State Machinists Council, the West Central Florida Federation of Labor, and the Florida State AFL-CIO.
